A game to assess conceptual learning

Hi
What kind of game can I play in class which I can use to assess the extent of student's learning of a concept?
For instance, if I have just taught 'verbs', how can I test its understanding through a game? How can I use the game to give feedback to students on their learning?

Great answer anonymous!

Another version of the game could be to expect the student to draw the word in the slip on the board.
The assessment criteria could remain the same.
Also, you could play this game without having stand in a circle. Each student could come to the teacher's desk, pick out a slip, act it out or draw it and go back to their seats once they have been assigned marks. This is my two-bit to the excellent answer given by anonymous

Act it Out! A Game to Assess Understanding of 'Verbs'
by: Anonymous

In this game students stand in a circle with the teacher in the centre holding a bowl of slips with verbs (like: running, panting, writing, typing, eating etc.) written on them. The teacher approaches a student and asks them to pick a slip and act out the word silently. When they do, the other students have to guess the word. Having done that they (with the help of the teacher) have to assign marks based on the performance to the performer. Once the marks are given, the teacher approaches another student and the process is repeated until all students have participated in the game.Setting the feedback criteria and deciding on marks in advance: Questions you want the students to agree on: What is an appropriate response? Is accuracy of the action important? Is the guessing the verb important? Did the student need the help of the teacher or other students to perform?
The answers to the above questions will be the parameters of assessment. Help them to assign marks to each parameter. Following is a sample
1-Action performed Yes(1) With help (0.5) No(0)
2-Guessed the very first time (accurate) (1) Guessed after a few trials (somewhat accurate) (0.5) Did not guess at all (inaccurate) (0)
